ES Windows Window Replacement: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
Replacing windows in an ES Windows-equipped Orlando home typically runs $850 to $2,400 per opening installed, depending on frame material, glass package, and whether impact rating is required. We stock ES Windows-compatible replacement sashes and full-frame units at our Orlando shop, and most single-opening replacements go in within a day once the unit arrives. You’ll usually discover the failure the same way every Orlando homeowner does: a window that suddenly won’t lock, a sash that drops when you raise it, or condensation you can’t wipe away because it’s trapped between the panes.
Which ES Windows Models This Applies To
ES Windows builds for the Florida market, so their product line skews toward impact-rated aluminum and vinyl units. In Orlando, we most often see the ES Series 700 and Series 900 single-hung and horizontal roller lines, along with their fixed-picture windows used in great rooms and entry elevations. Every ES Windows unit carries a label on the frame edge: an AAMA-certified sticker with the series number, glass type, and manufacture date. If that label is faded or painted over, pull the sash and look for the etched production code on the corner of the glass, usually a two-letter prefix followed by a six-digit date stamp.
One compatibility gotcha we see constantly: ES Windows changed their balance shoe design between 2014 and 2016. Older single-hungs use a 5/8-inch coil balance with a top-mounted shoe; newer production uses a block-and-tackle with a side-lock shoe. They look almost identical in a photo, but they are not interchangeable. Send us a picture of the balance with the sash removed and we’ll tell you what you have. For the glass itself, ES Windows uses proprietary glazing beads, so we recommend OEM glass packs on impact units still under the manufacturer’s warranty. On out-of-warranty windows, a quality aftermarket insulated glass unit from a Florida-certified fabricator gets you the same thermal performance for roughly 22 percent less, and we’ll only offer that option when the thickness and spacer profile match exactly.
Signs Your ES Windows Window Replacement Is Failing
- The sash drops or won’t stay up. The coil balance or block-and-tackle has lost tension or snapped internally. On ES Windows single-hungs from the mid-2010s, this is the most common failure we replace in Orlando homes, and it happens faster in homes where the window faces full afternoon sun.
- You crank or slide and hear grinding. The roller assembly or pivot bar has worn flat or the nylon roller has split. ES Windows horizontal rollers are aluminum-framed with a steel axle, and Orlando’s humidity eventually causes galvanic corrosion at the contact point. That grinding is the sound of the roller destroying the track.
- Cloudy glass that won’t clear. The insulated glass unit’s seal has failed and moisture is now inside the cavity. ES Windows’ standard dual-pane units carry a seal warranty, but after year seven or eight, we see seal failure accelerate in Orlando simply because of the daily thermal cycling.
- The lock won’t engage or catches halfway. Over time the keeper and lock body drift out of alignment as the frame settles or the sash shifts. Forcing the lock bends the keeper plate, and then you need replacement hardware matched to ES Windows’ hole spacing, not a generic big-box lock.
- Water staining or damp drywall below the window. The glazing gasket or the frame-to-rough-opening seal has failed. In Orlando’s summer downpours, a failing gasket on an ES Windows unit will show itself inside a single storm season. This one needs attention quickly because the water is already moving into the wall cavity.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
In Orlando, a single ES Windows-compatible sash replacement with new glass runs $850 to $1,600 installed. A full-frame replacement with new ES Windows or equivalent impact-rated unit starts at $1,800 and tops out around $2,400 per opening, with the spread driven by glass package, frame finish, and whether the opening needs new mulling or interior trim work. Every quote from Hale Windows Orlando is a written line-item price delivered before any work begins, so you’ll know the parts cost, the labor cost, and the disposal fee before you agree to anything. There is no change-order surprise with us.
Every ES Windows replacement we install carries the manufacturer’s warranty on the unit itself plus our 365-Day Done Right Promise on the workmanship. If the install isn’t right, we make it right, no argument needed. And if a repair we made fails, the second visit is free.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s a short list of things an Orlando homeowner can safely check before calling anyone: confirm the model series from the AAMA label, take a photo of the balance or roller assembly, and note how the window behaves when you open and close it slowly. That information saves you a diagnosis fee and gets us to the right part faster.
What we don’t recommend is attempting a sash or glass replacement yourself on an ES Windows unit. The balance assemblies on single-hungs are under constant tension, and a coil balance that releases while you’re working on it can take off a fingertip. Impact-rated glass units are also heavy, and a dropped sash on a second-story Orlando home is a real hazard to anyone below. We carry the right tension tools and the right glass-handling gear. Call (850) 613-9382 if you’d rather have it done once and done right.
FAQs
Plan on 15 to 20 years for the frame and hardware, with the glass seal being the first thing to go, usually between year 8 and 12 in Orlando’s heat-and-humidity climate. Homes with western exposure and no shade lose seals faster because the afternoon sun puts the glass through a bigger daily thermal swing. If you’re past year 12 on original units, a replacement quote is worth having even if the window still works.
Yes, if the failure is isolated to the balance, roller, lock hardware, or weatherstripping, we repair it on the spot with the correct ES Windows-spec part. If the glass seal is blown or the frame extrusion is cracked or corroded through, replacement is the honest fix. We’ll tell you which one applies and put it in writing. Call (850) 613-9382 and describe what the window is doing, and we’ll give you a straight answer.
For a sash-only swap, we’re typically done in 45 to 90 minutes per window, including cleanup. A full-frame replacement takes half a day per opening, longer if stucco repair or interior trim work is part of the job. We’ll give you a written schedule before work starts so you know exactly what to expect on install day.
We stock the most common ES Windows balances, rollers, locks, and weatherstripping for the 700 and 900 series right here in Orlando. Custom glass packs and full replacement units are ordered from the fabricator and typically arrive in 7 to 14 days. If your part is on the truck, the repair happens today. Call (850) 613-9382 and we’ll check stock while you’re on the phone.
