ECO Window Systems Front Door Replacement in Orlando: What to Know First
ECO Window Systems front door replacement in Orlando typically runs $1,400 to $3,800 depending on the model line, glass package, and whether the slab needs full frame work or just a door swap. Most jobs take one to two days from tear-out to final trim, and we quote a written price before any work starts. If you own an ECO Window Systems door that’s sagging, leaking air, or showing frame rot around the threshold, call (850) 613-9382 and we’ll tell you exactly what you’re dealing with.
This page is for Orlando homeowners who bought ECO Window Systems products, whether through a builder or a previous owner, and now need a front door replaced. We are an independent ECO Window Systems service provider, not a manufacturer-authorized dealer, which matters when it comes to parts and warranty decisions. Spencer Odell runs our Orlando operation and has been doing this work across Central Florida long enough to know which ECO doors hold up, which ones don’t, and what the difference costs you. How ECO Window Systems Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
ECO Window Systems makes a solid mid-range door, but Orlando’s heat and humidity find the weak points in any product. Here’s what we actually see on service calls, not what the brochure says.
- Threshold rot on the 5000 Series. The 5000 Series entry doors use an aluminum threshold that sits directly on the slab. In Orlando, afternoon thunderstorms pool water against the exterior and over time it seeps under the threshold and rots the subfloor. We replace the door and rebuild the threshold area with proper flashing and a composite sill pan so the new door doesn’t meet the same fate.
- Foam-core slab warping on builder-grade ECO doors. Many Orlando production homes got ECO doors with foam-core slabs. They’re light, which made them cheap for builders, but after six or seven years of direct Orlando sun on a west-facing entry, the slab bows and the door stops sealing. We swap these for solid-core or impact-rated slabs and realign the frame so the latch actually catches.
- Weatherstripping compression on double doors. ECO double-entry doors, common in Orlando’s newer subdivisions, use a center astragal with foam weatherstripping that compresses permanently. Once that happens, you’re air-conditioning the front porch. The fix is either new compression gaskets or, if the doors have shifted, a full replacement with a properly aligned active leaf and a passive leaf that actually stays put.
- Hinge sag on tall doors without reinforcement. ECO doors over 80 inches tall need hinge reinforcements. Builders skipped these on plenty of Orlando jobs, and the top hinge screws eventually strip out of the jamb. We install longer screws into the framing, add hinge reinforcement plates, and if the door’s gone too far, replace the slab and set the hinges right the first time.
- Glass seal failure on decorative lites. Some ECO front doors came with double-pane decorative glass. In Orlando’s humidity, the seal between panes fails and you get permanent fog, or worse, condensation running down the inside of the glass. We replace the door with either fresh insulated lites or, if you want the upgrade, impact-rated glass that also quiets the street noise.
Our ECO Window Systems Front Door Replacement Process
Here’s how a replacement goes when you call us. No mystery, no surprises.
- 1
Call and book the estimate. A live person answers, day or night. We set a time that works for you, and we send you the name and photo of the technician before the visit.
- 2
The diagnostic. The technician measures the existing door, checks the frame, the threshold, the hinges, and the weatherstripping. We look at what failed and what’s still solid, then we tell you whether a slab replacement makes sense or the entire frame needs to come out.
- 3
Parts decision. We identify the ECO model line and figure out whether an OEM replacement makes sense or a quality aftermarket door from one of our other lines (like Therma-Tru or PGT) fits better. If the existing door is still under ECO’s warranty, we tell you what’s covered and what isn’t before you spend a dime.
- 4
Written price. You get the full number in writing before we order anything. No allowances, no change orders, no “we found something once we opened the wall” games. The price we give is the price you pay.
- 5
Installation. We remove the old door, address any rot or water damage at the threshold, set the new door, install fresh trim, and seal everything properly for Orlando weather. The technician is background-checked, identity-verified, and photo-badged, and they treat your entryway like their own.
- 6
The test and the guarantee. We open and close the door a dozen times, check the seal with a light test, and walk you through the latch, the sweep, and the weatherstripping. Then we hand you the written workmanship guarantee. If anything’s not right within 365 days, we come back and make it right. No argument.
What ECO Window Systems Front Door Replacement Costs in Orlando
Here are the ranges we quote in the Orlando market. These are real numbers we’ve used on jobs, not estimates pulled from a national average.
- Basic slab swap (keeping your existing frame, replacing just the door slab): $900 to $1,600
- Full frame replacement (new door, new frame, new threshold, new trim): $1,800 to $3,400
- Impact-rated ECO door (full frame, impact glass, reinforced hinges): $2,800 to $4,500
- Double-door replacement (both slabs, new astragal, full frame): $3,200 to $5,500
What moves the price: whether you need a full frame or just a slab, glass package (clear vs. insulated vs. impact), door width on older Orlando homes that don’t meet standard rough openings, and any rot repair at the threshold. Call (850) 613-9382 and we’ll give you an exact number in writing, free.
Why Orlando Homeowners Call Hale Windows Orlando for ECO Window Systems Work
We’re a windows-and-doors specialist, not a general contractor who happens to hang doors between kitchen remodels. That focus means our technicians know ECO Window Systems products specifically, but they also work across eight professional-grade door and window lines, including PGT, CGI, CWS, and ES Windows. So when an ECO door isn’t the right answer, we’re not trying to force it. We recommend what actually fits your Orlando home, your exposure, and your budget.
Every job carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the work isn’t right, we make it right. Every price is in writing before we start. Every technician follows the Threshold Standard: background-checked, identity-verified, uniformed, photo-badged, and pre-announced by name and photo before the visit. You’ll know exactly who’s at the door before you open it, which matters when you’re home alone or have kids sleeping in the next room. As Spencer Odell puts it, “If the numbers and the warranty language don’t back it up, I won’t say it.”
FAQs
It can, if the replacement isn’t done to ECO’s installation specs. As an independent ECO Window Systems provider, we’ll check whether your existing door is still under warranty before we touch anything. If it is, we tell you what’s covered, what’s excluded, and whether a manufacturer claim makes more sense than a full replacement. Call (850) 613-9382 and we’ll walk you through it.
Yes, in most cases. ECO doors are common in Orlando subdivisions and we can source matching or near-matching slabs, hardware, and glass. If the exact model is discontinued, we’ll show you three or four close options from ECO or another line we carry, with prices, before you commit.
Most jobs are done in one day, from removing the old door to final trim and cleanup. Full frame replacements that involve rot repair or a non-standard rough opening can run into a second day. We’ll give you a timeframe in writing along with the price.
For a direct swap where the opening isn’t changing, no permit is required in most Orlando cases. If we’re changing the rough opening size or the door is on a home in a historic district with specific requirements, yes, we pull the permit. We’ll tell you upfront whether your job needs one.
Depends on what failed. Hinge sag and weatherstripping compression can often be repaired for $200 to $600. A warped slab, rotted threshold, or failed glass usually means replacement is the smarter money. Our diagnostic visit is free, and we’ll show you the numbers for both paths so you can decide.
