CWS Window Replacement: The Orlando Owner’s Guide

If your CWS window has a failed sash, broken glass, or a part that’s stopped working, we stock and install CWS-compatible replacement components throughout Orlando, with most jobs priced between $385 and $1,150 installed depending on the part and glass package. We carry OEM where it makes sense, and quality aftermarket equivalents where they match or beat the original spec. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a window that suddenly won’t lock, glass that fogs between the panes after a summer storm, or a crank handle that spins without moving the sash.

Call (850) 613-9382

We’re an independent service provider, not a CWS dealer or affiliate. What that means for you: we match parts to your specific CWS model instead of pushing a one-size-fits-all replacement, and we tell you honestly when a part is worth fixing versus when the whole sash needs to go.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS, or Custom Window Systems, builds vinyl and aluminum windows common in Florida homes from the mid-1990s onward. We work on their single-hung, horizontal roller, casement, and awning lines, including the Series 150 and Series 190 vinyl models we see regularly in Orlando neighborhoods like Conway, Azalea Park, and out toward Apopka.

Before you order anything, check the label. CWS etches or prints a manufacturing code on the spacer bar between the glass panes or on the frame near the sash lock. That code tells us the glass package, the production date, and the series. If the label is gone, we measure the visible glass dimensions and the frame thickness, which gets us to the right part almost every time. The gotcha with CWS: glass thickness varies by wind zone. A window built for inland Orlando may carry different impact glass than one shipped to a home near the coast, even on the same series. Matching glass thickness matters for fit and for code compliance if you ever sell the house.

For rollers and balances, we lean OEM when the part is still in production. For glass packages and seals, we often recommend a quality aftermarket insulated glass unit that carries the same solar heat gain rating as the original. If the numbers and the warranty language don’t back it up, we won’t say it.

Signs Your CWS Window Replacement Is Failing

  • Condensation or fog between the panes. The seal on the insulated glass unit has failed. Once moisture gets in, the argon or krypton gas that provides the insulation leaks out, and the glass loses its thermal performance. This is the most common CWS failure we see in Orlando, where humidity and heat cycle the seals hard.
  • The sash won’t stay up or is hard to lift. The spring balances or block-and-tackle assemblies have worn. On CWS single-hungs, the balance system is tucked inside the frame. When it fails, the sash either slams shut or fights you on the way up.
  • The window won’t lock or the lock feels loose. Often the sash has warped slightly or the lock keeper is misaligned. Sometimes it’s a cheap fix. Sometimes the frame has shifted enough that a new sash is the right call.
  • You can hear wind or feel drafts around the closed sash. Weatherstripping on CWS vinyl frames compresses over time. In Orlando’s wet season, that gap also lets moisture ride the wind into the track.
  • The roller or crank slides but the sash doesn’t move. On horizontal rollers, the nylon wheels flatten with age, especially in direct afternoon sun on west-facing walls. The crank or track may be fine; the wheel is shot.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what CWS window replacement actually costs in Orlando, installed by us, as of this year:

  • Insulated glass unit replacement: $285 to $520 per pane installed, depending on size and whether it’s standard or impact-rated glass.
  • Sash replacement (vinyl single-hung): $385 to $710 installed, including balance and weatherstripping.
  • Full window replacement (frame and all): $640 to $1,150 per opening, which covers removal, new window, installation, and haul-away.
  • Roller and track replacement: $95 to $210 per window, parts and labor.

Every quote is written before we start. You’ll see the parts cost, the labor, and the total, and the invoice won’t surprise you later. Every repair carries a written guarantee. If the fix fails, the second visit is free. And everything we do falls under the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right, we make it right, no argument needed.

DIY or Call Us?

Some CWS issues are safe to check on your own. You can clean the track, inspect the weatherstripping for visible gaps, and confirm whether the lock keeper has come loose. That’s where the safe DIY ends.

Where it goes wrong: a CWS window sash that won’t stay up means a spring balance under tension. Prying that out without the right tool can send a metal tang into your hand or crack the vinyl frame. Replacing an insulated glass unit also means setting the new pane into a frame that has to be perfectly square, sealed, and shimmed, or you’ll be back to fogged glass within a season. If you’re not sure, don’t guess. Call (850) 613-9382 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s worth a service visit or a simple fix you can do yourself.
